Having silky soft and beautiful hair is something to be proud of, because it builds up your self esteem and confidence, and it makes you feel you can face anything. Sadly, there are times when our hair turns dry and frizzy, making it prone to breakage and slow hair growth. Worse thing is you might not be aware that you yourself is causing the damage.
Below are some hair styling techniques and habits that could damage your hair:
Limit Heat Styling
Heat based styling products like blow driers, hair curlers and flat iron straighteners make hair styling really easy and fast, but if used on a daily basis, hair can get very dull, dry and prone to breakage, affecting hair growth. It is advisable to use heat styling on special occasions.
Stay Away From Tight Hair Styles
Hair styles like pony tails, thigh buns or braids can damage your hair and scalp. Wearing thigh hair styles for long periods of time can break hair and can cause a condition called traction alopecia, this is when hair gets pulled off from the roots causing patchy hair loss. If possible, try to avoid these types of hair styles or you can try styling hair them loosely.
No To frequent Colouring
Changing hair colours from time to time is fine, but if you change every week, then this can put a toll to your hair. Chemicals in hair dyes are strong; they actually melt away your hairs natural colour to let the dye soak into your hair. This again can make hair dry, brittle and prone to breakage.
Use Wide Tooth Combs
Narrow tooth combs can tangle hair easily, that’s why we commonly find ourselves doing a tug of war between our scalp and comb. It is best to switch to wide tooth combs which are less likely to tangle hair or better yet, use those wide tooth detangling combs or brush for a tangle free grooming.
