With heat, you can temporary set your hair the way you like, which makes styling really easy. But constant use of hot ceramic straighteners, curlers or blow driers can put a toll on your hair because it vaporizes the little moisture the hair can hold, making it very dry, brittle and prone to breakage. It is advisable to use heat styling on special occasions.
It’s okay to change hair colour a few time a year. But constant hair colour change can also weaken the hair strands. Regular dyes contain ammonia and other chemicals that strip the natural colour of hair making it lighter, afterwards the colour of the product is absorbed into hair. These are strong and harsh chemicals that also make hair very dry and brittle when constantly used. It is best to use natural hair dyes like henna. These products may not last long, but at least they are safe to use.
Tight hair styles
There are some hair styles that aren’t friendly to your hair and scalp. Dreadlocks, cornrows, a tight pony or any hair style that involves pulling or tying the hair for long periods of time can put a lot of stress to the hair and scalp. Prolong tension to the hair can cause hair breakage, and sometimes can pull out the hair directly from the roots, which can cause patchy hair loss. It is best to avoid these type of hair styles.
